Creation of an Airbnb…dollsize

Sometimes I just want to put together a quick scene and snap a couple shots, but I am discouraged. It’s because the entire doll collection resides in the basement and it’s especially creepy to go down there at night. So my quick fix was to purchase the Rainbow High dollhouse and place it in a corner of my bedroom. One of the few joys of not having to share a bedroom is that I get full reign of what I want to do. Or refurbishing a dollhouse into an Airbnb to showcase the many families or individuals in my collection needing a tropical vacation.

First up was the second bedroom which has this lovely wide window which needs glass and walls requiring some wallpaper, artwork and other items to bring some life to the room.

As you see the dolls couldn’t wait for work to be complete before moving in for a weekend getaway. Note the doorway to the left will be the future entry to a closet I plan to attach on the exterior and will no longer be the entrance to the elevator. I don’t use the elevators in dollhouses in my stories so the one for this house will be re-purposed into an area for plants downstairs.

With some linen textured wallpaper the room is already starting to look better.

Next up for new wallpaper is the master bedroom…

…come back soon to see what wallpaper was used and see other updates to the airbnb.

Thanks for visiting.

  1. I thoroughly understand your pain; my props are in stacked crates and I’m gettin too old for all the lifting. Ouch!! I’d love to have a house and storage system where I just have to pickup and play. Anywho, I’ll follow your progress and live vicariously through you.
BTW, awesome work so far!! Kudos!!
